Carmen

Proprietor

Hello I’m Carmen and I am the proud owner of Corwen Day Nursery.  I have a degree in Business Management and up until 2008 spent my working life as a financial controller in hotels.  When I had my first son back in 2000 I was a customer of Corwen Day Nursery.  I bought the business in 2008 whilst on maternity leave with my second son and learnt it was going to close.  I love my job and with my fantastic team I will ensure that quality child care is always delivered and will always strive for excellence by constantly reviewing the service.  I attend all NDNA conferences to keep abreast of any changes and I am the Network chair for North West Wales.  I also attend the meetings held by Denbighshire Family Information Service including their annual conference.  We have many exciting plans for the future and I will continue to move the nursery forward.   Although I live and breathe the nursery I do enjoy spending time walking in the Lake District.

Cheryl

Cheryl

Room Leader –  Baby Room

Hello I’m Cheryl and I have been working at Corwen Day Nursery SINCE 2004 after passing my CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education.  I have worked in all areas within the nursery but I have run the baby room since 2008 which is where I thrive.  I find it really rewarding to see a child settled at nursery and if I have been able to reassure a parent that their little one has been left in the safest of hands and goes to work knowing that their child is going to have an amazing day at nursery.  I am extremely organised, and I am passionate about the use of the Welsh Language in the nursery. I like to spend as much time as possible with parents and their babies before they start nursery to get to know the family.  I have one son and I enjoy going on holiday abroad and walking in the local area.

Heather

Room Leader – Toddlers

Hi I am Heather and I work with the toddlers. I have been employed at the nursery since 2018 and I am currently studying for my NVQ Level 3 in Children’s Care Learning and Development.     I like to be organised and get involved with the children especially when doing art and craft.  I love dancing and singing with the children as well as reading stories to them. I have a teenage daughter and I look forward to holidaying abroad in the summer holidays.

Lowri

Preschool Room, After School Club & Holiday Club Leader

Hi, my name is Lowri and I’ve worked with children for nearly 25 years from being a swimming
teacher to working in childcare. I’ve worked at Corwen Day Nursery for over 2 years now and I run
the Pre-school room, and I also run the After School Club and Holiday Club. I have a Level 3 in
Children’s Care, Learning and Development, and I am currently working towards my Level 3 in Play
work, and Level 2 in Forest school. I am very passionate about being outdoors and I believe it’s one
of the best ways for children to learn and I totally believe in listening to the child’s voice and
following their interests. I am influenced by Anna Ephgrave’s planning in the moment approach
which is based on the principal that children learn best when they are following their interests. I am
a very happy and positive person and try to ensure that all the children have fun each day. I have 3
children, and in my spare time I like helping my husband out on the farm and going for days out as a
family.

Janet

Hi, I’m Janet, and I have worked in early years childcare for over 20 years and have a CACHE level 3 diploma in preschool practice. Working in preschool means that I can create those positive, safe and secure bonds, allowing the children to feel safe, secure and valued as they play learn and develop new skills through self chosen, exciting and inspiring activities. I love hearing about their news, interests, and things that excite them and spark their natural curiosity and imaginations. When I’m not working I enjoy art and craft, crochet and spending time in our vintage VW camper.

Nia

Nia

Nursery Cook

Hi I’m Nia and I’ve recently returned to the nursery to work as the nursery cook.
I enjoy walking/hiking with my dogs and I love travelling. I also love to cook and bake for family and
friends.

My daughter has been attending Corwen Day Nursery for over 2 years now. She has learnt so much in her time there and has made so many friends. We cannot praise the staff enough for the care that has been provided right through from the Baby Room to Preschool. She always comes home happy and can’t wait to go again.

Rosie’s Mum

Corwen nursery is fantastic in so many ways. The space and resources are brilliant. The children are outdoors all of the time, which is a huge plus for us. The staff are always enthusiastic and seem to really enjoy what they do! Our two children absolutely love going here, they are stimulated and cared for to a really high standard. We couldn’t recommend it highly enough.
